You are once again reading a doc from Michele to know about the new little brother of "Mitch's icons Pro Ω.¥".
This time I've created not simple icons, but many "modern", nice desktop patterns. Some of them have been taken from other sources (≈), but most are my personal drawings or picture clippings.
Working with System 7.5.x:
It's very easy to install them:
1) open the "Desktop patterns" control panel
2) Drag my pattern (do not open it, anyway) onto the CP window . The Mac will copy and set it to your control panel correctly, and it will be shown in the control panel big pict area.
Of course, you can use these patterns with Mac OS 8 too.
If you ever opend a pattern from my work, you may think it's strange 'cause you don't see the entire pict (but its pattern, in fact). Don't worry if you see half object divided up and down. As you'll set it, it will be shown in the right way. It's normal, no troubleshooting nor mistakes !!
I guess you can use my patterns for Web pages background, too. Since I only make freewares, feel free to use my patterns as you want !! Just do not modify them.
Why doing such a work ? Because I wanted to make something for any Mac users, even those 680XX CPU without great possibilities nor big memory (Ram, VRam). Even with a small Mac you can do nice stuffs. In fact, this product requires only a colour Mac with System 7.5 or greater,its "Desktop Patterns" control panel and the "Picture clipping" extension. Also, I like computer graphics very much and go crazy for all original, coloured pictures. These patterns, and the icons too, are my first steps towards the world of computer arts.
As you are going to see, I don't have any great applications nor PPC. I just used ResEdit and a 68030 CPU. I wanted to make something for everyone, even those (like me) who don't have millions of colours screens yet !!
Some patterns, for the pleasure of little Macs owners, use 256 colours. You'll find even two nice fractals...
Others, on the other hand, use grayscales: they are photos !
In fact, it is nor a great artistic effort, neither a revolutionary collection of patterns. It is just an effort made with basic means.
